Excursions

One of the best things about learning Italian with us is that not all of your time is spent in the classroom. As well as tours of some of Ruvo’s finest establishments you’ll get to visit some of Puglia’s most beautiful tourist attractions.

Visit to the Jatta Museum and Mansion

The Museo Jatta hosts one of Europe’s best collection of Greco-Roman vases. As well as a guided tour through the Museum students will also be shown the ‘Palazzo Jatta’, a beautiful example of 1800s Italian Architecture.

Wine tasting at the Cantina Crifo

On your way into Ruvo you’ll probably notice that most of the surrounding fields are full of olive trees…the rest are vineyards. Ruvo has more than one wine brewery but its most famous is the ‘Cantina Crifo’. On your guided tour you’ll be able to sample and buy some beautiful wines (at beautiful prices!).

Guided tour of the Panificio Cascione

The Casione family has been making bread for generations. Situated in Ruvo’s old town, it’s the perfect venue to see some of Puglia’s traditional breads and cakes being made…and then have a little taste.

Castel del Monte

The ‘Castle of the Mount’ offers beautiful views over the Apulian landscape. Built in the 13th century by the Roman Emperor Frederick II, it is now protected as a World Heritage site and was chosen by Italy to feature on the back of it’s one cent Euro coin.

Alberobello

Trulli are the ornate, conical shaped, stone houses that you’ll see dotted around the Apulian countryside. There unique design is said to originate in the idea that they stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Alberobello is the home of the Trullo and the way that these charming little buildings adorn its streets have made it a UNESCO World Heritage site.
